Welcome to 2021!
We can now embrace this wonderful and exciting new year – one with endless opportunities, possibilities for achieving goals and dreams, and a year that in all ways, can be made better than the last.
I’ve been reflecting on some key ideas that can be helpful for moving your life forward.
As we enter this year, I want you to start it with questions that may be essential for your personal and emotional growth.
Consider this “new start” list.
Take a look and see where you land.
Then make a decision to put concentrated effort into making changes in your identified area.
1) Awareness is the first step to change. Do you notice what you notice? Are you aware of what you aware of? Where do you put your attention? Do you guide your thoughts or do they seem to guide you?
2) Consider patterns and habits you would identify as supporting your dreams and endeavors and the patterns or habits interrupting or disrupting the pursuit of your dreams and goals. What patterns and habits support your dreams and which ones do not?
3) Optimistic thinking makes a big difference in achieving one’s goals. What is the nature of your thoughts? Are your thoughts mostly negative and pessimistic or are they positive and optimistic?
4) Paying attention to what you think is only half the equation. Do you engage in “faulty thinking” patterns (example: do you minimize good things and exaggerate unpleasant things)? How do you think your thoughts?
5) Good emotional regulation means that you are responsive (pause and then respond) and not reactive (quick tempered, explosive, harsh) especially as you face challenging life situations. Do you tend to be more responsive or reactive?
6) Goals and dreams help us experience a greater sense of purpose and meaning in life. What goals or dreams would you like to achieve in this coming year?
7) Taking action is what moves our dreams to reality. What daily actions do you engage in to move your dream forward? What daily action can you engage in?
What are you thoughts about how you are handling each of these areas of your life?
Lets start 2021, embracing change, and the challenges that it presents.
Only then, will you start to become the person you are meant to be.
Wishing you the best,Joan
